The purpose is “to create wallpaper patterns that explore consumption, memory, and loss. I have mixed feeling about this. On one hand I like to see people who might not otherwise participate in public art doing so. On the other hand something just gets diluted when a corporate giant grabs onto a “trend” like this. I’m not a fan of Michaels by any stretch of the imagination, but that’s not to say I don’t shop there for cheap yarn on occasion. Yarn can be expensive and buying cheaper yarn means I can do more installations.
